Mykonos Island Party night at Onoma Mediterranean Restaurant

A sundowner with exquisite Greek ethos, Onoma Greek-Mediterranean Restaurant hosted an eight-hour-long at their home ground along Lagos Road, Rhodes Park in Lusaka.

Established in 2022 to introduce the missing Greek culture to the locals and support the Zambian Greek community, Onoma Mediterranean Restaurant is a hub for good food, drinks, music and company whilst highlighting the spirit of Greece which is to have fun, relax and enjoy life regardless of life's circumstances.

The restaurant is graced by blue and white painted walls, complemented by a reservationist at the entrance that leads you to your reserved table. To the left is an open deli with Greek writing and the right oversees a half-fenced wall of Onoma's indoor sitting area. Straight ahead, engrossed in its brand colour (blue) is the beverage Corona.

Into Onoma, the cement pillar and surface hold the DJ kit to support the decks playing and mixing Greek house music, the booth is semi-embraced by a decorated tree as a backdrop. Across the deck perches the outdoor sitting area with a pool overlooked by the bar from the right. The entrance to the bar, which serves Greek cocktails and customer preferences, has a short outlet to the Mediterranean restaurant and indoor sitting area which serves Greece-inspired meals with compliments of organic Greek sauces.

The Sunday special menu comprised lamb orzo casserole, lamb kleftiko, stuffed calamari and olive feta Greek phyllo pastry pie. And for dessert; Onoma honey cake and Mosaiko Greek chocolate dutches.

The Greek restaurant hosts weekly events like Greek Night on Friday nights that showcases a lot more about the Greek culture with communal dancing and the breaking of plates. ‘Lady's Night’ every Thursday has a unique special accompanied by unlimited wine paired with a signature appetiser menu and ‘Onoma Lives’ on Saturdays features live bands with unique performances.

The sunset vibes mashed with Island grooves complete the first of many Mykonos Island Party as a must-have experience. The drinks and food flowed, those who lit up for a smoke did so and the vibe frequency was perfectly complemented by the talented DJs in the province and country, DJ Rafael, DJ Choolwe Nino, DJ Ralph Goveia and DJ Ali.

Leaving this impeccable restaurant, the deli was open for souvenir purchases after a great experience. Items for sale included  Greece-imported alcoholic beverages, coffee, spices, herbs, pasta, candles in a little clay pot structure that can be refilled at a discount, handmade bracelets, Onoma branded caps and so much more.

Onoma Greek-Mediterranean Restaurant provides a great escape and exposure for the locals; Lusakans, non-Lusakans and a home away from home for the Zambian Greek community and definitely worth a visit.
